Nurturing HOPE: The Nurturing Program for Parents and Their Children with Special Needs

About the Program

Our Philosophy

Families raising children with disabilities and complex health needs deserve programs that truly understand their journey. Nurturing Parenting® – Nurturing HOPE was created with these families at the center—recognizing that traditional parenting classes rarely speak to the realities, emotions, and triumphs that come with navigating systems of care, advocacy, and daily life.

This specialized, evidence-based program is built on the nationally recognized Nurturing Parenting® curriculum and thoughtfully adapted for parents and caregivers of children with special needs and health challenges. Each session provides space for reflection, skill-building, and community connection, supporting caregivers in developing nurturing routines, gentle discipline practices, stress management tools, and deeper understanding of their children’s developmental and emotional needs.

At its core, Nurturing HOPE honors the strength and resilience within every family. It provides a safe and inclusive environment where caregivers can share experiences, celebrate small victories, and learn practical strategies that make daily life more manageable and meaningful. Families are not only supported as parents—but as whole people navigating complex emotions, relationships, and responsibilities.

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, or caregiver, Nurturing Parenting® – Nurturing HOPE is here to remind you that you are not alone—and that nurturing yourself and your family is both possible and powerful.

Why This Matters — Why Now

Families of children with disabilities are living through a time of rapid system change. Health-care pathways, educational supports, and early-intervention services are being restructured across Colorado and the nation. Waitlists are long, and families often serve as full-time advocates, coordinators, and emotional anchors.

Many caregivers report feeling invisible within traditional parenting programs, which rarely address disability-specific stress, grief, or identity. This program changes that.

Nurturing Parenting® – Nurturing HOPE™ was created to meet families exactly where they are—with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and flexibility—so they can:

  • Find belonging among others who understand their journey

  • Learn practical, nurturing approaches that fit real-life circumstances

  • Reclaim joy and confidence in parenting

  • Build sustainable support networks beyond the program

By centering this population, the program restores something families often lose in complex systems: connection, community, and hope.
